Massage

  • Massage

Massage is the methodical manipulation of muscle and other soft tissue for the relief of discomfort and tension using pressure and friction. Many techniques are used to enhance performance, improve range of movement and aid recovery. Massage can be used to treat a range of muscular injuries and conditions. Relaxation massage can ease the day-to-day stresses of fast-paced living that leave us feeling exhausted and depleted. The techniques used help restore energy, focus and vitality.

We offer a variety of massages for our patients. However please note that the massage at this practice is strictly for those WITHOUT pain. If you are in any pain (e.g. Low back pain, neck pain, swollen joints) we recommend you have an Osteopathic consultation first. Massage performed on swollen or painful areas can result in the condition worsening, and being that your safety is our top priority, we do reserve the right to refuse the massage service if we believe that you are in pain. If you present to the practice for a massage and we feel that you have an underlying problem, we may arrange for your appointment to be converted into an Osteopathic consultation instead, or may postpone your appointment for a later date. If you require any clarification on this issue, please call the practice to discuss your requirements.

    Types of massage available:

    Deep tissue & remedial massage

To work out the tension within the muscles and the deeper layers of connective tissue. Very effective and leaves the body feeling much looser and more mobile. Clients should note that there may be some soreness for about 48 hours after this treatment.

    Sports massage

Similar to deep tissue, but also includes passive stretching and gentle joint mobilisations. Some techniques require the participation of the client to move limbs and joints. Excellent for those undertaking heavy gym workouts or vigorous exercise classes. Clients should note that there may be some soreness for about 48 hours after this treatment.

    Relaxation massage

Gentle rhythmic motions to relax tissues. Performed with a blend of relaxing essential oils

    Warm oil massage

Similar to relaxation massage, with a heated oil instead.

All massages can be upgraded to include a hot towel treatment at the end of the session. There is an additional charge for this service and preferably we ask clients to book this when booking the massage, so to avoid disappointment. On the hill, prides itself in using massage oils that where possible are organic, cold pressed and not tested on animals. If you have any allergies please notify the receptionist when booking your appointment.
